Here is the latest chapter book in Pottersfield's Books for Big Kids series by one of Canada's best loved children's writers.

Andrea Doucette lives in a fishing village in Nova Scotia. It's Christmas Eve and everyone in her house is feeling excited and happy — except for Andrea, who is feeling very gloomy.

"The trouble with Christmas," she thinks, "is that everyone keeps telling you that it is going to be the most wonderful day of the year." And it never is. Andrea can think of several Christmases when really bad things happened. And she just bets that this year it's going to go right on being imperfect.

Then, a number of things occur that makes Andrea wonder whether this Christmas is going to be quite fine – or maybe end up being the worst disaster of all.

Budge Wilson was born and educated in Nova Scotia, but spent many years in Ontario before returning home in 1989.
